Tales (and Winners!) from a Kloutwarming

Thanks to everyone who came out Friday night to celebrate a new Klout. We had a full house, delicious food from Paula Le Duc Fine Catering and drinks from Veev, Palmeri Wines, and ONEHOPE Wine. And, of course, no party would be complete without pictures with a life-size Bieber cut-out! Many thanks to Mark Likosky Photography for amazing pics throughout the night!

What Klout party could be complete without #TigerBlood and #CobraVenom?

What can we say? Clearly, people love Bieber.

Check out all the rest of the pics on Flickr.

And if all that wasn’t enough, party-goers had the opportunity to win up to five new Klout achievements for meeting CEO Joe Fernandez, beta testing the site, and more.

Special thanks to popchips for the awesome snacks, Zingo Car for getting you all back safely after all that drinking and Redbull for setting up DJ Goldenchyld in an amazing rocketship DJ booth (yes, we’re serious). Not to mention, Roqbot, who kept the party going until late in the night.

The Winners!

We have some great stuff to give away, here are the lucky numbers (from the raffle tickets) that won our prizes:

If one of these is yours, please email contact@klout.com with a picture of your raffle ticket! Then we’ll get your prize to you straightaway 🙂 If you don’t collect within 24 hours we’ll move on to the next person, thanks!

Don't miss the Klout Panels at SXSW!

Klout will be on not one, but two panels at SXSW this year. You know you have to check them out to learn why influence matters and maybe even a few tips and secrets about what we do. The panels are back to back on Sunday so it’ll be easy to hop from one to another.

The Science of Influence: Sunday, March 13th, 11AM

Ramya Krishnamurthy, our Director Research Engineering (aka our Chief Scientist) will be joined by Michael Wu from Lithium and Dan Zarella the “Social Media Scientist” to discuss how we can measure influence and why it matters. This panel is moderated by Marshall Kirkpatrick from Read Write Web.

Influencers Will Inherit the Earth. Quick, Market Them! Sunday, March 13th, 12:30PM

Our CEO, Joe Fernandez, will discuss how to market influencers (and why you should try) with Mike Yavonditte from Hashable and Sloane Berrent from Answer with Action. This panel will be moderated by Anthony Ha of VentureBeat.

As for what else is on the Klout schedule at SXSW, we’re hosting a lunch party on Saturday at the Klout Krib and we’re co-hosting a brunch with Cotweet on Sunday.

See you there!

The Klout Krib at SxSW

Many of you have heard rumors that there will be a sweet Klout House for SxSW this March. For once, the rumor mill is right and the Klout Krib should definitely be on your Austin to-do list.

We want to invite you to our first Klout event at the Krib on Saturday, March 12th from 12PM – 3PM. We’ll have food and drinks (including Veev cocktails) poolside and 75 influencers will get special edition HeyDay Footwear (watch out for a Perk invite). Not to mention The UserVoice Challenge Cab will be shuttling as many people to the event as possible for free – AND giving out nifty prizes. If you can’t get in the challenge cab, we’ll also have a limo for additional transport.

UPDATE: We’re pleased to announce that AudioRunner will be playing for us! Self-defined “Rocktronic” group Audio Runner combines vocal, instrumental and electronic sounds that explore different genres for each new track. Audio Runner is perfect for the KloutUp since they came to existence through social media.

Nadia G. from Bitchin Kitchen will also be joining us and presenting one of our signature dishes. Yum!

Join us for GroundHacks Day!

Come celebrate Groundhacks day with the Klout team in San Francisco! We’re joining bit.ly’s hackabit to put together their first ever bi-coastal hackathon. Bring your computer over to our new office to hack away with Klout and get caffeinated while skyping with the NYC side of Groundhacks day. Mashery will be joining us and bring pizza to keep you fueled!

Wednesday February 2nd (AKA Groundhacks Day)

3pm – 9pm PT (San Francisco, Klout HQ) RSVP

6pm – Midnight ET (New York, bit.ly HQ) RSVP

Basically, we’re looking to provide two awesome spaces for hackers to come bring their projects and work together. Klout and bit.ly will be available for questions on our APIs, but your projects don’t have to involve them.

Btw, if you haven’t been convinced yet, check out this picture of our new office. It’s big, awesome, and in need of more hackers.

Do you have Facebook Klout?

Today I’m excited to announce we now measure influence on Facebook. With more than 500 million users and 30 billion items of content shared each month, the addition of Facebook is a huge leap towards our goal of measuring influence across the social web.

Over the past few months we’ve been working hard analyzing Facebook accounts to understand the nature of influence on the world’s largest social network. As on Twitter, our underlying premise for influence is not the number of friends or followers you have, but your ability to drive action.

On Facebook, like Twitter, we assess how conversations and content generate interest and engagement. Facebook allows users to post many different types of content, view multiple streams and interact with their friends in more complex ways than we’ve previously seen. We’ve made sure each action and reaction is individually assessed to ensure we give you the most accurate picture of your Klout. We’ve had two years working on Twitter, and this is the first step of many in our development of Facebook Klout.

If you haven’t already, help us increase your Klout by connecting with Facebook, sign in or sign up at klout.com.

Check out the new Facebook achievements users can earn:

Q & A:

Q: Who will have Facebook integrated into their report?
A: Everyone who has connected their Facebook account to Klout prior to this week. Going forward, we will analyze new Facebook connections and notify the user when their report is updated.

Q: How will Facebook integration show up on the Klout Report?
A: Facebook data will be incorporated into the Klout Score. People will earn Facebook achievements for Comments, Likes, Unique Commenters, and Unique Likers. Facebook based information will also be available on the score analysis page.

Q: How will connecting Facebook affect my score?
A: Your Klout score will be more accurate. For instance, you may not use Twitter much but have a rich and engaged network of friends on Facebook, now that influence will be reflected in your score. Even if you are an infrequent Facebook user, there is no risk that your Klout will go down. In fact, in most cases it will go up. Once you’ve connected Facebook your score will be updated in 72 hours or less.
